Anna von Hausswolff - Stockholm Music & Arts Festival
First Aid Kit, Frida Hyvönen and Grilling & Grandy are great, but it’s Anna von Hausswolff that made the year’s best Swedish album. “Ceremony” is the sound of the young singer / songwriterns steps away from beautiful piano ballads to powerful, almost metal-heavy soundscapes with amazing vocal melodies and hypnotic organ playing.
And live she is just as magnetic as the disc. At the Stockholm Music and Arts, she is on stage in the hot sun in the company of two electric guitarists (but no bass player, an exceptional event!), A drummer, a keyboardist and a singer. But Anna sees a way out of being alone, both band and audience disappears, she is completely in his music, are satisfied by it, dance to it, restrains it, unleash it.
Anna von Hausswolff music sounds like it is in a volcano - sometimes before the impending eruption, sometimes in the midst of the violent and total, and sometimes afterwards, when the storm and the devastation added. There is no strong apocalyptic over the music. And Anna is in the midst of chaos, fearless and totally focused.
Stockholm Music and Arts second best concert.
